GroupMaker
Create groups automatically and populate them with fields from your
ACT! database
One
of
the
great
features
of
ACT!
is
the
group
feature.
Groups
can
be
used
in
a
number
of
different
ways.
You
can
create
a
group
for
friends,
a
group
for
golfing
buddies
or
a
group
for
prospects,
etc.
One
of
the
many
ways
that
groups
can
be
used
is
by
creating
Company
groups
and
using
the
company
groups
to
keep
information
pertaing
to
the
company
itself
such
as
the
company
address,
number
of
employees,
years
in
business,
etc.
Unfortunately,
if
you
have
a
database
of
1000
contacts
belonging
to
400
companies
it
can
take
quite
a
while
to
create
those
400
groups
and
add
the
contacts
to
them.
That’s
where
GroupMaker
comes
in.
GroupMaker
lets
you
select
1,
2
or
3
fields
to
use
either
individually
or
together
to
create
groups
automatically
and
then
add
the
contacts
to
the
groups.
GroupMaker
creates
the
group
based
on
the
contents
of
the
field
and
then
adds
the
contact
to
the
group.
For example, if you chose to use the Company field when running GroupMaker
it would create your 400 groups and add the contacts to the company group
that they belong to. Fields can be combined to create groups as well.
If you have companies that have locations in different states you could
use the Company field and the State field to create the groups. The groups
created would then be “Company – State”, etc.
