| Below are known issues when installing
Brokers*ACT! 7.01
When you try to open the Brokers*ACT!
7.0 database for the first time, it might ask you for a user name
and password.
Not sure why this occurs. It is our guess that your ACT! program,
if it is a single user license, is assuming that the Brokers*ACT!
database is trying to open as an additional user. It really doesn't
matter why because the solution is quite easy. Simply use Joe Broker
as the user name and leave the password blank.
Upon opening the Brokers*ACT!
database, the program might tell you that the database framework
needs to be updated.
Just select OK and then the ACT! program will begin to update
our database to fit your structure. The "working" progress
bar will appear (animated dots) and the process can take several
minutes to complete. Once complete, the database should open properly.
The layout and templates are not accessible when
a copy of the Brokers*ACT! database is created.
It has been reported that in some installations, the layouts,
letter templates and other files do not get copied to the default
folder as expected. In most cases, this is not an issue. However,
if you find, when you create a copy of the database as instructed,
that you cannot find the Brokers*ACT! layout or
any of our letter templates, then you will need to manually copy
these files to the proper directory.
Our files are located in C:\Program Files\MJB Software\Brokers
ACT\BrokersACT70-database files\
The three folder there (Templates, Layouts and Reports) need to
be copied to the directory where similar files are stored, usually
in your My Documents\ACT\ACT for Win 7\Databases\name of
your database\
Now everything will be accessible from the newly-created copy
of our database.
